 I'm a total sucker for a romance that's quick, spicy, and full of chemistry, and let me tell you, Kitt Henley's novella, Hooking Up with a Rockstar, completely delivered! 🎉 If you're looking for a read that's high on heat and connection without a huge time commitment, you've gotta check this one out.

The Gist

This story is about June, a woman who has a past with the now super-famous rockstar, Anthony. They used to be just friends, working side-by-side, but that was before he became a world-famous rock star. After one steamy night together, he leaves to continue his tour, and soon after, postcards from him start showing up 💌. This is complicated for June, who has sworn off love for good after seeing the toll her father's leaving took on her mother. She's terrified of ending up just like her, but as Anthony re-enters her life, falling for him starts to feel inevitable. What happens next is a total whirlwind of rekindled feelings, backstage passes, and a relationship trying to survive the spotlight.

What I Loved

Okay, the dynamic between June and Anthony was amazing right from the start! 😍 Their chemistry felt totally electric ⚡️, and I was hooked on their journey immediately. For a novella, the pacing was spot-on—it moved along quickly without ever feeling rushed, which was awesome. 🙌 And for everyone wondering: the spice level was perfect! 🔥 Henley did an amazing job writing steamy scenes that felt meaningful and were, you know, incredibly hot! 🥵

What Gave Me Pause

The only thing that didn't quite work for me was that Anthony’s character felt a little underdeveloped outside of his feelings for June. His whole world seemed to be about her, and while that’s super romantic, I would have loved to see a bit more of his own personality. To be fair, it's really hard to build out complex characters in a shorter book, so I get it! 🤔

I also got confused by a couple of minor details right at the beginning of the story. But honestly, they were just small hiccups that didn't stop me from loving the book at all. 👍

Final Verdict

So, what's the final word? It was a super fun read! ✨ It’s a fantastic choice if you love the rockstar romance trope 🎸, a great central couple, and a good amount of spice. Even with those few minor bumps, the romance itself is compelling and so satisfying. I really enjoyed it, and now I'm excited to see what else Kitt Henley has written! 🤩
